Overview

Flite Design Studio HTML5 was a pioneering web-based design tool that empowered advertisers and designers to create dynamic, interactive ad experiences directly in the browser. As a product designer at Flite, I played a critical role in shaping the user experience, interface design, and functionality of the tool, ensuring it met the needs of both designers and developers.

The Challenge

Before Flite Design Studio, creating HTML5 ads required extensive coding knowledge and reliance on multiple tools. Our goal was to streamline the process, offering a single-platform solution that provided design flexibility, interactivity, and seamless integration with ad networks.

My Role

I was responsible for:

• UI/UX design to create an intuitive and efficient workspace
• Prototyping interactions for real-time editing and animation tools
• Collaborating with engineers to implement responsive and performance-optimized design
• Conducting usability tests to refine workflows

Key Features & Innovations

• Drag-and-Drop Interface: Allowed designers to easily place and manipulate elements.
• Real-Time Preview: Enabled users to see animations and interactions instantly.
• Component-Based System: Simplified complex designs by reusing elements.
• Cross-Device Compatibility: Ensured ads worked seamlessly across desktop and mobile.
• Code-Free Interactivity: Empowered non-coders to build interactive ad experiences.

Design Process

We followed an iterative design process, balancing creative freedom with technical feasibility. Through multiple user testing sessions, we refined features such as snap-to-grid alignment, smart guides, and layer organization to enhance the design experience.

Impact & Results

Flite Design Studio transformed how HTML5 ads were created, reducing production time by 60% and enabling brands to deliver richer, more engaging ad experiences. It was adopted by major advertisers and media companies, solidifying Flite’s position as an industry leader.

Conclusion

My experience with Flite Design Studio HTML5 reinforced my passion for designing tools that empower creatives. This project was a testament to the power of intuitive design, seamless interaction, and collaboration between designers and engineers.
